The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
I took the kids to see the C.S Lewis classic, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – one of the Narnia Chronicles. It was really great. This is indeed one of the best stage shows if not the best I have taken the kids to. My seven year old absolutely loved it. He truly, truly enjoyed himself. The salvation message as well as our Christian walk with the Lord was presented in such a way that it was both intriguing and funny without loosing the message.There were a lot of life lessons to be learnt from the story as well. Not only was it a great outing, but it was a great learning time for my son. As a home schooler, this was our lesson for the day. We talked about the story and it’s application to life.
We learnt from the story to always have the sword of the spirit with us (The Word) as well as our shield of faith with which we quench every fiery dart of the enemy. We also learnt that we are in a spiritual warfare and as long we play according the rules (The Bible) we will always triumph. It will not be easy, but if we hold fast to the end, there is a crown of righteousness waiting for us in Heaven. The part where Aslan the Lion sacrifices his life to save Edmund really drives home the message about the sacrifice that Jesus Christ paid for our sins. This is one message I know will stay with my son for a long time!
